RAF Coningsby Spitfire Crash Victim Named

Pilot's Death Confirmed After Lincolnshire Air Show Incident

Tributes Pour In for Squadron Leader David Stark

The Royal Air Force pilot who died in a Spitfire crash near RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire on Saturday has been named as squadron leader David Stark.

The 42-year-old was flying the historic aircraft at the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight when it came down in a field at around 4.30pm.

Emergency services were called to the scene, but Stark was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a civilian, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The Ministry of Defense has launched an investigation into the crash. It is understood that the Spitfire was one of a number taking part in a flypast at the air show, which was being held in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

Stark was a highly experienced pilot with over 2,000 flying hours. He had served in the RAF for 15 years and had flown Spitfires on numerous occasions.

Tributes have been paid to Stark by his family, friends, and colleagues. He is described as a "dedicated and passionate" pilot who will be greatly missed.
